I am a rather prolific writer of fanfiction. I have posted a lot over the years and I have also written a lot I haven't posted. Usually this was because I never finished the fic, or I would have.
This page is specifically for those fragmentary, unfinished works that I didn't see through and don't have a seperate page for. I realize this isn't a very appealing pitch, but I like to share the weird ideas and half-starts that have their own wistful magic. If any of the descriptions on this page intrigues you, whatever follows will be a short read; despite its rough shape it may bring you a moment of joy.
This Place is a Temple (Fear and Hunger): A fic that started very strong but which I abandoned when it sunk into me that I was writing the dialogue incorrectly; I had based the way the characters speak on the in-game written material and Ragnar's early lines gave them very formal, archaic speech which I eventually realized did not fit their actual voices. This is a shame, because the fic's concept was delightfully rancid: A straight-up evil Enki enteres the dungeon with the goal of killing some Gods without getting killed himself; to do that, he gathers party members as cattle and manipulates them into marrying each other. Ragnar/Cahara/D'arce, not that I really got there.
Vulnerability (Ruroni Kenshin): A Ruroni Kenshin oneshot that I did post and finish and its accompanying unfinished sequel. Both are Kenshin/Aoshi, the sequel was going to be polyamory feat. both of their canon girlfriends. The other main focus of the fic is Aoshi, who is the POV character, having an incredibly broken brain and saying everything he says in an incredibly concerning way.
Jeff and Tony Get Engaged (Earthbound): An adorable little Earthbound oneshot I wish I had finished about an adult Jeff giving his good friends Paula and Ness the news that he and his boyfriend Tony have finally become engaged.
Sequins (Dogsred): After five years of being an absolute Golden Kamuy megafan (I have gon on record that it is now my favorite manga, supplanting my entire previous twenty years of manga-reading experience), and never managing to write anything about this series I love so much (what would I change? not a damn thing), I wrote one oneshot about a different manga by the same author. Alright.
Doomed Roland/Serenoa(/Frederica) Fic (Triangle Strategy): I could so clearly see how Roland/Serenoa would work and, despite the fact that I knew better, I started writing a fic about Roland coming to terms with his desire for Serenoa before I finished the game. And I'll tell you what I'll ship siblings with the worst of them, but since I started writing this before I knew they WERE half-siblings, the tone just ain't right.
I Keep Trying To Write A Star-Stealing Prince Fic: Star-Stealing Prince, one-person indie RPGMaker project about a young man who slowly realizes he is very cursed, is one of my favorite video games ever made. Full stop. Despite being a simple project, there is nothing quite like it. Very few things have stabbed me in the heart quite so hard. I replay it every few years, and every damn time, I almost write a fic about it before it just fizzles out. I think SSP is one of those things I love and admire so much that I can't really find a way to add to it that satisfies me.
Tales of Symphonia False Starts: A Handful of ToS fics I started and did not continue, all of them Zelos/Lloyd and Most Zelos/Lloyd/Collette.
I think the very bottom of the Misc Fics page is where I will hide the link to the fanfiction.net account I held as a teenager. I can't believe this is still online. The invaluable research that you desperately need vanishes overnight, but the low quality anime fanfiction outlasts Ozymandius. Anyway in the spirit of archival work this is the other account which once was mine. At the time one thing I was very proud of was that I was one of the people who had a gay fanfiction deleted by the Powers that Be because it was gay. It was a Death Note fanficiton.
At that time in my life, I believed that as opposed to the cultural myth of a human being assigned an angel and a demon as guardians, I had personally been assigned a muse and a demon. The 'Muse' in the account name was in honor of her. I don't like to cherry-pick the past for signs of present condition, but replacing angels with muses in one's personal gnosis is not not something you might expect to see in the history of someone who will eventually become a self-declared neopagan.
